
Dr. Katie Gilbert is a Board Certified Optometrist and the Director of Low Vision Services at Panhandle Vision Institute. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree from Auburn University in Biomedical Sciences. She then completed her Masters in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health. She went on to attend the University of Alabama School of Optometry where she obtained her Doctorate in Optometry degree. While in Optometry school, she had specialized training at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. She has served on the Board of Directors for Independence for the Blind of Northwest Florida for the past three years. She is a current member of the American Optometric Association Low Vision Section, the Florida Optometric Association Low Vision Committee, and the American Public Health Association's Vision Section.

Sarah L. Neel, OTR/L, is the staff occupational therapist for the Panhandle Vision Institute. She is licensed in the state of Florida and is board certified and registered with the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapists. She attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy in 1999. She has two years of experience in the practice of low vision locally. Sarah has furthered her education with specialized training and education from leaders in the field of low vision. She is a member of the Florida Occupational Therapy Association.
